Project Update

Preview Night
January 20, 2017

We invited all those who donated directly to the Growing Maple Acre Library Together Campaign or participated in the Books on the Move as a volunteer to a sneak peek at the newly renovated and expanded Maple Acre Branch.

January 2017

This month was very busy with Library Staff setting up the furniture and collection.

The branch on the wall is metal artwork representing the donations made to the Growing Maple Acre Library Together campaign.

December 2016

Furniture deliveries began between Christmas and New Years.

Our fundraising reached $44,000 by the end of 2016.

The newly renovated original library filled with furniture deliveries.

November 2016

We had our first peek inside the new building this month. It was exciting to see the shell of what it would become.

October 2016

Our fundraising initiative is climbing!  As of November 14th we’ve raised

$33,000.

Staff are pleased to see beams, framing, and plywood on the walls and a roof. The building is really coming along, and we’re now able to see where the gorgeous full size windows will be on the front. There is going to be so much natural light!

We have also chosen a vendor for some beautiful new furniture; it has been ordered and will help to make our renovated branch the place to relax and enjoy!  Library staff are also working on developing our opening collection of books and DVDs.

The beginning of the new school year brings lots of changes for Maple Acre.  Electrical is done, as is plumbing, and we’re getting the start of some walls with structural beams.

June 2016

On Monday, June 20, 2016, members of Town Council, the Pelham Library Board, and the Maple Acre Advisory Committee celebrated the start of construction and renovation of the new Maple Acre Branch. (Town of Pelham Press Release)

While the original library still stands, the rest of the building was torn down shortly after the ground breaking ceremony. The “Fenwick Firehall” blocks that were located on the front of the building were removed and given to the Fenwick Firehall to display etc. Also, the cement bench that was located out front was removed and will be stored until the new building opens. It was a memorial gift from a Fenwick family upon the passing of one of their family members.

Demolition begins.

May 2016

Our last month before the renovations begin.  We’ve spent the month getting our “Books on the Move” event underway. Community volunteers and library members are helping us store materials in their homes and this in turn will reduce the cost involved in moving and storing them. Those who help us out receive a free sneek peek before we open.

January 2016

An architect and design was picked by the Maple Acre Advisory Committee. Two exterior designs were presented to the Public at an open house at the Fenwick Firehall and comments were recorded.
